The same was in the beginning with God.
۱:۲او در آغاز با خدا بود.

۱:۱۵یوحنا دربارهٔ او شهادت میدهد و فریاد میزند و میگوید این همان کسی بود که دربارهاش گفتم آن که پس از من میآید بر من مقدم شده است زیرا پیش از من بود.

And this is the witness of John, when the Jews sent unto him from Jerusalem priests and Levites to ask him, Who art thou?
۱:۱۹و این شهادت یوحنا است هنگامی که یهودیان کاهنان و لاویان را از اورشلیم فرستادند تا از او بپرسند تو کی هستی؟

And he confessed, and denied not; and he confessed, I am not the Christ.
۱:۲۰و اقرار کرد و انکار نکرد و اقرار کرد من مسیح نیستم.

And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? And he saith, I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered, No.
۱:۲۱و از او پرسیدند پس چه؟ آیا تو ایلیا هستی؟ و میگوید نیستم. آیا تو آن نبی هستی؟ و جواب داد نه.

They said therefore unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?
۱:۲۲پس به او گفتند تو کی هستی؟ دربارهٔ خود چه میگویی تا به آنان که ما را فرستادند جوابی بدهیم؟

He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said Isaiah the prophet.
۱:۲۳گفت من صدای کسی هستم که در بیابان فریاد میزند راه خداوند را راست کنید چنانکه اشعیای نبی گفت.

And they had been sent from the Pharisees.
۱:۲۴و آن فرستادگان از فریسیان بودند.

And they asked him, and said unto him, Why then baptizest thou, if thou art not the Christ, neither Elijah, neither the prophet?

John answered them, saying, I baptize in water: in the midst of you standeth one whom ye know not,

۱:۲۹روز بعد او عیسی را میبیند که به سوی او میآید و میگوید اینک برۀ خدا آن که گناه جهان را برمیدارد.

This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man who is become before me: for he was before me.
۱:۳۰این همان کسی است که دربارهٔ او گفتم پس از من مردی میآید که بر من مقدم شده است زیرا پیش از من بود.

And I knew him not; but that he should be made manifest to Israel, for this cause came I baptizing in water.
۱:۳۱و من او را نمیشناختم اما تا او بر اسرائیل آشکار شود به همین سبب من آمدم که در آب تعمید دهم.

And John bare witness, saying, I have beheld the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven; and it abode upon him.
۱:۳۲و یوحنا شهادت داد و گفت من روح را دیدهام که چون کبوتر از آسمان فرود میآمد و بر او ماند.

۱:۳۳و من او را نمیشناختم اما آن که مرا فرستاد تا در آب تعمید دهم همان به من گفت هر کس که ببینی روح بر او فرود میآید و بر او میماند همان کس است که در روحالقدس تعمید میدهد.

۱:۳۴و من دیدهام و شهادت دادهام که این برگزیدۀ خدا است.

Again on the morrow John was standing, and two of his disciples;
۱:۳۵روز بعد یوحنا دوباره با دو تن از شاگردان خود ایستاده بود.

and he looked upon Jesus as he walked, and saith, Behold, the Lamb of God!
۱:۳۶و چون به عیسی که راه میرفت چشم دوخت میگوید اینک برۀ خدا.

And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
۱:۳۷و آن دو شاگرد سخن یوحنا را شنیدند و از پس عیسی رفتند.

And Jesus turned, and beheld them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? And they said unto him, Rabbi (which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher), where abidest thou?
۱:۳۸عیسی رو گرداند و دید که آنان از پس او میآیند و به آنان میگوید چه میجویید؟ آنان به او گفتند ربی کجا میمانی؟ (که ترجمهاش معلم است).

He saith unto them, Come, and ye shall see. They came therefore and saw where he abode; and they abode with him that day: it was about the tenth hour.
۱:۳۹به آنان میگوید بیایید و خواهید دید. پس آمدند و دیدند کجا میماند و آن روز با او ماندند تقریباً ساعت دهم بود.

One of the two that heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
۱:۴۰اندریاس برادر شمعون پطرس یکی از آن دو تن بود که سخن یوحنا را شنیدند و از پس عیسی رفتند.

He findeth first his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messiah (which is, being interpreted, Christ).
۱:۴۱او نخست برادر خود شمعون را پیدا میکند و به او میگوید ما مسیا را پیدا کردهایم (که ترجمهاش مسیح است).

He brought him unto Jesus. Jesus looked upon him, and said, Thou art Simon the son of John: thou shalt be called Cephas (which is by interpretation, Peter).
۱:۴۲او را نزد عیسی آورد. عیسی به او چشم دوخت و گفت تو شمعون پسر یوحنا هستی تو کیفا خوانده خواهی شد (که ترجمهاش پطرس است).

On the morrow he was minded to go forth into Galilee, and he findeth Philip: and Jesus saith unto him, Follow me.
۱:۴۳روز بعد عیسی خواست به جلیل برود. و عیسی فیلیپُس را پیدا میکند و به او میگوید از پس من بیا.

Now Philip was from Bethsaida, of the city of Andrew and Peter.
۱:۴۴و فیلیپُس اهل بیتصیدا بود شهر اندریاس و پطرس.

Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
۱:۴۵فیلیپُس ناتانائیل را پیدا میکند و به او میگوید آن کسی را که موسی در شریعت دربارهاش نوشت و نبیان نیز دربارهاش نوشتند پیدا کردهایم عیسی پسر یوسف از ناصرت.

And Nathanael said unto him, Can any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.
۱:۴۶ناتانائیل به او گفت آیا ممکن است از ناصرت چیز خوبی بیرون آید؟ فیلیپُس به او میگوید بیا و ببین.

Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!
۱:۴۷عیسی ناتانائیل را دید که به سوی او میآید و دربارهٔ او میگوید اینک اسرائیلی راستین که در او هیچ حیلهای نیست.

Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.
۱:۴۸ناتانائیل به او میگوید از کجا مرا میشناسی؟ عیسی جواب داد و به او گفت پیش از آنکه فیلیپُس تو را صدا کند هنگامی که زیر درخت انجیر بودی تو را دیدم.

Nathanael answered him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art King of Israel.
۱:۴۹ناتانائیل جواب داد ربی تو پسر خدا هستی تو پادشاه اسرائیل هستی.

Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee underneath the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.
۱:۵۰عیسی جواب داد و به او گفت آیا از آن رو که به تو گفتم تو را زیر درخت انجیر دیدم ایمان میآوری؟ چیزهای بزرگتر از اینها خواهی دید.

And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye shall see the heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
۱:۵۱و به او میگوید بهراستی بهراستی به شما میگویم آسمان را گشوده خواهید دید و فرشتگان خدا را که بر پسر انسان بالا میروند و فرود میآیند.
